Further on Joyoti Das from Melbourne, attending Festival
Dear Pratap Bhai and other organising group
In the absence of any communication from you and the organising group, thought of further updating you of the travel and staying plan of Joyoti from Melbourne.
We have just seen off Joyoti from Melbourne on her way to BBSR, via Kolkata.
As planned and stated to you before, She will reach BBSR on 24 th afternoon by Deccan Air from Kolkata, and will return on 31st December by Deccan again.
She will be accompanied by her uncle, Rajat Das, and aunty Chitra Das joining her from Kolkata. They have also sent their registration before, but will pay the fees there as was discussed with you before.
They will stay at Hotel Pushpak, as stated by email to your gmail address before. Just thought, to let you know her plan. Please see if this festival manages to keep the next generation's interest in Odissi in new vigour.
Our humble request to you all are purely focussed on that 'Odissi'.
We would have loved to hear from you or any other of the organising group, particularly with your phone contact to stay updated on this Festival.
Please contact Joyoti by calling Rajat Das on his mobile 94 3334 2549 on 24th evening after they arrive by Decan air flight from Kolkata, and update her further on Festival activities.
With all the best wishes for the Festival and warm regards

Joyoti Das attending from Australia
Dear Pratap Bhai
Greetings from Melbourne.
Missed you over phone on few times, and possibly by later days, you had been on your way to India with such a hectic task.
Just reviewed the immpressive schedule with all the big names all over included on various activities. With all of them attending it will be real good one to look forward to.
Joyoti is also looking forward to this with lots of interest, and surely will gain more during the course of festival, particularly knowing many of others.
I was wondering about her contribution though, as I could see her only on role of parents ! Not sure if that is what she had requested for. She herself is not a parent, though may be she can talk about her parents any way, as tips for other parents. All others must be parents of established/budding Odissi dancers.
Going through the schedule in full so far, we think Joyoti being the only from Australia, and carrying the credentials of Sanjukta Panigrahi, should be able to contribute more in
1. Celebrating Jayantika on International Day, 27th December, under the moderator Dhiren Patnaik
2. then on Preparing Odissi for Global Arena , on 28th December in the Panel with Sunil Kothari. Joyoti should be able to say her mind here to explore further in future, with mix of tradition back then and retain the same in the new era in global sense.
Please include her name into those above, so that other contributors are aware of her as well.
Further while on ground at BBSR, please include her on any other as she may express.
She may have written to you also separately.
It is possible that the team are still not able to place Joyoti along with heavy weights in Odissi. That is where this festival should focus on to explore and encourage. She carries a great heritage with utmost humility.
Please let us have your contact phone no in India, so that we can discuss further as required.
It is unfortunate that she is not able to perform, but I am sure that will happen soon somewhere else, and the whole team will be able to have appropriate mind set. You know the reason.
I look forward to read from you with some confirmation and phone contact.
With regards and all the best

Odissi Festival DVD from 2003
I had purchased the set of DVD from the Odissi Festival in 2003 and wanted to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who had put this set together. I am very happy with the purchase and it is going to be a great reference for everyone as a learning tool. It is very well made. thank you so much for creating it. Of course, the most endearing part is Guruji's performance, specially him playing the Pakwaj. It is very dear to my heart. thanks again.
